Tromsø is a vibrant city in the north of Norway, known for its stunning natural beauty, proximity to the Arctic Circle, and unique culture. On this kayaking and camping trip near Tromsø, you'll stay in Rebbenesøya, a beautiful, remote island in Troms og Finnmark county.

The 2-day camping and kayaking excursion in Rebbenesøya begins with pick-up from Tromsø (please specify your location upon booking). The experienced guide will greet you and you'll embark on a scenic 90-minute drive northwest to the ferry berth at Mikkelvika, followed by a 10-minute ferry crossing to Bromnes on the island of Rebbenesøya. During the drive, you'll pass breathtaking fjords, mountain passes, and Norway’s largest island lake. Then, you'll have a 15-to 30-minute snowshoe walk to the camp.

The camp is located in a remote part of Rebbenesøya, without road access or electricity. The water is collected from a local stream. This camping trip in Rebbenesøya is a great way to switch off and immerse yourself in Arctic nature! Upon arrival at the camp, you'll settle into your own cosy yurt. As you warm up, a light meal will be prepared together with the guide. After your delicious lunch, it's time for your evening kayaking adventure in Rebbenesøya! The guide will provide the sea kayaking equipment (single kayak, paddle, dry suit, and life vest) and paddling instructions.

You'll walk to the waterfront and set off on your thrilling winter kayaking trip near Tromsø! With the dark, starry polar sky above you, you'll begin paddling along the crystal-clear waters, weaving between beautiful islets and sheaves. Due to the low light pollution in this remote location, the Northern Lights may also appear while you are kayaking! The calmness of paddling beneath the dancing colours of the Aurora Borealis is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

After kayaking around the islands near Tromsø, you'll return to the campsite for another local meal. Then, you'll spend the night in the comfortable yurt, equipped with beds, high-quality duvets, sheets, blankets and pillows, and insulated heating. The following morning, you'll enjoy breakfast before preparing for the second sea kayaking trip in Rebbenesøya. This excursion takes place in the daylight of the Arctic winter. You'll paddle along the islands for approximately 3-4 hours.

During the daytime kayaking near Tromsø, you may spot different wildlife species, such as white-tailed eagles, otters, seals, porpoises and even dolphins! You'll stop for breaks throughout the trip for sweet snacks and to admire the coastal scenery. After your sea kayaking trip, you'll return to the camp to pack up and have a warm lunch. We did kayaking in the fjords under the night sky with northern lights above us. It was amazing. We also did hiking in the nearby mountains, as well as a road trip in the island, spotting local wild life and getting to greet some reindeers.
