Activity description

Experience the Arctic wilderness by night on this exciting dog sledding safari under the Northern Lights in Skibotn Valley from Tromsø. Welcoming adventurers from ages 5 and up on this family-friendly excursion!

Skibotn is a small village located in Norway, in the northern part of the country close to the Arctic Circle. The region experiences typical Arctic winters, with long, dark nights and snowy conditions. The beautiful valley is surrounded by hills and mountains, a stunning sight to behold. It is also one of the best places in the world for witnessing the awe-inspiring Northern Lights.

For this excursion, you have the option of meeting at the husky kennel in Skibotn or being transported by bus from Tromsø. Once you arrive at the farm, you will meet the experienced dog musher and the friendly Alaskan Huskies. The guide will go through a safety briefing and driving lesson, so you are well-equipped to drive your own dog team. You will dress in warm Arctic clothing and get set up on the sled. Each sled will be shared between two, one driver and one passenger with the opportunity to switch midway.

Under the bright night from the stars and the moonlight, you will lead your dog team into the pine forests that surround the kennels. The energetic dogs will eagerly pull your sled through the Norwegian wilderness. With the Lyngen Alps, a magnificent mountain range, behind you, you will glide across the snowy terrain and experience a peaceful night.

If you are lucky, the magical Northern Lights will appear in the sky above you. There will be a break to admire the beautiful dance of colours and capture some photos. Away from the light pollution of the city, there is a high chance of witnessing the amazing Aurora Borealis. After switching drivers, you will head back to the kennels. At the end of the tour, you will be driven back to Tromsø.

Brilliant experience from start to finish. Great experience for all of the family of any age and ability.

Amazing experience with beautiful views

Really amazing experience! Guides were excellent (Catriona and Lina especially, didn’t meet the other guide), dogs were class and overall a really good time! Safety demonstration was clear and very helpful for operating the sleds and getting to meet and hang out with the dogs was a total bonus! The track through the forest was nice and varied. Only downside was not getting to see the aurora due to cloudy conditions, but otherwise I would highly highly recommend.

Moment inoubliable! Nous retournerons !!!

Actual sledding was good, but very cold. Soup served at hotel at 22.00 - too late to start eating when there was a 2hr journey back.

Klamotten anziehen, in Bus, Schlitteneinleitung, losfahren (45 min), Hunde losmachen, in Bus, Klamotten abgeben, in Bus, Suppe essen, in Bus und vorbei. Sehr viel Hektik.
