Arctic Fjords and Immersion with the Sami and Reindeers in Tromsø

Join along an authentic Sami experience, immersing with the reindeers, savoring local flavors, discovering the fjords, the mountain landscapes, and the captivating island of Sommarøy and Tromsø! Ideal for families and animal lovers! 

Your adventure begins with a meet-up at Scandic Ishavshotel in Tromsø City Center where you and your group (a maximum of 16 participants) will hop on the minibus for a 30-minute scenic drive to Kvaløya island. Take in the breathtaking scenery while your guide shares with you some fascinating stories and insights about the Sami culture and history! 

Once you've made your way to Kvaløya, you will be amazed by the majestic mountains and Arctic Fjords that surround this beautiful island. Your guide will take you to the best spots to stop for pictures and enrich your media gallery, while admiring the overall scenery along the coast road. 

Then, it is all the way to the Sami reindeer herder and his reindeers in the wilderness of Sommarøy. Here, you will see the local herders, the Sami people, calling out for their reindeers who are living freely in the wild. When the herd is gathered, you can feed the reindeers and get up close with these incredible animals! 

You will then gather around the open bonfire in a traditional Sami lavvo (Sami camp) where you will listen to traditional Sami songs (Joiking) and learn more about the Sami traditions and their connection with the reindeers and the Arctic. 

It is time to say good bye to your new furry friends, and hop back on the bus, heading towards the coast of the Sommarøy islands in the open sea with deep blue waters, and sandy beaches. Take in the mesmerizing scenery while your guide leads the way to the Arctic Hotel where you will enjoy a delicious homemade and locally produced meal. Here, you will have enough time to explore the local community and the area on foot before savoring the local flavors of the Arctic (Lunch is served at 12:30) 

Once you've rested and recharged your energy, you will head back on the road, riding along the captivating Norwegian landscapes and the Arctic fjords while you make you way back to Tromsø, full with memories of the reindeers and the Sami people!
