Activity description

Embark on an Arctic fjord cruise from Tromsø to experience the mesmerising fjords in Northern Norway and the magnificent Arctic wildlife. All ages are welcome aboard this family-friendly adventure!

The tour sets off from Tromsø, a city located in the north of Norway. The region offers opportunities for various outdoor activities year-round, such as hiking, fishing, and whale watching. It is a perfect destination for discovering the Arctic beauty and the beautiful Norwegian Sea.

The trip begins at the meeting point in Tromsø, where you will board the hydroelectric ship, equipped to hold a maximum capacity of 130 passengers. You will meet the experienced guides, who will share fascinating insights about the wildlife you encounter throughout the tour. Warm, indoor lounges with panoramic windows will provide fantastic views of the epic coastal scenery of Arctic Norway.

Starting from Tromsø, you will be able to admire the skyline of the third-largest city in the Arctic Circle in the morning light. You will set course south to one of the most beautiful fjords in the region; Ramfjord. From marine life that flourishes here to the historic Cold War facility of Olavsvern, the fjord is rich with stories. You will cruise silently past snow-covered mountains and landmarks like the Arctic Cathedral.

Your friendly guides will share stories and insights about local culture, history and nature while on the lookout for wildlife. If you're lucky, you may see seals, dolphins, eagles or other seabirds. If conditions allow it, the guides will deploy an underwater drone to explore the hidden life underneath the surface of the ocean. Once you leave Ramfjord, you will continue to an old fishing facility on the island of Kvaløya. You pass by Ristraumen, a heavy current and a well-known local fishing spot.

At Kvaløya, you will step on land and learn more about how important the fishing industry was for the history of northern Norway and still is to this day, and how it has shaped families and culture. Your guides will show you the traditional and famous drying racks that are dotted over the Norwegian coast and are used to make ‘stockfish’. Inside, you will be provided with a deeper insight into how the fish goes from fjord to plate, and how things have changed throughout history. Finally, you will get to try a little taste of the very products that were produced and are still being made. At the end of the educational tour, you will return to the starting point at the pier in Tromsø.

Book your next adventure in the Arctic, test your senses and smell the local delicacies on this fjord and wildlife cruise in Tromsø!

Bien que la partie faune sauvage ait été un peu décevante, très belle excursion dans le détroit et fjord de Tromso ; nous avons eu beau temps, c'était magnifique !
