Arctic Explorer invites you to come on board and join the team on an adventure that will take you as close as possible to the world's biggest mammals!
Norway has so much to offer but the most amazing thing you can experience is getting up close and personal with the local wildlife. From late October to mid-February, the Norwegian fjords around Tromso welcome very special guests: whales, the world’s biggest mammals that visit to feed on herring!
The most common whale species you'll be able to see are the humpback whale, orca, harbor porpoise and sometimes even the fin whales. The islands and waters of the Norwegian fjords are also home to sea eagles, seals, and many different bird species!
After meeting in Tromsø's city center, you'll get briefed on the safety rules on board and you'll also have a presentation about the whales you can spot during our trip! Then, once the boat has reached the whale feeding site, the ship will stay there for an hour and a half.
This is a fantastic experience for wildlife and photography enthusiasts! Even though Arctic Explorer's team can't guarantee sightings, since it depends on these wild creatures, they can guarantee you will have a great experience!
Minors must have authorization from their parents.
Please note that whale sightings cannot be guaranteed, as a consequence of weather conditions and whales’ natural behaviour. Due to these changes in weather, the tour can be amended at short notice. This can make the route, duration and destinations different from day to day. However, if the whales do not come as early as we expect or leave earlier than expected, you can still enjoy the fjord cruise.
