Voss is situated in western Norway, a popular ski destination known for its beautiful winter landscapes. The region features snowy mountain terrains, lakes and valleys. This snowshoe trip at Hanguren is a great option for those who want a fresh winter experience in the beautiful nature.
The adventure begins at the meeting point in Voss. You will meet your experienced guide, who will take you through a safety briefing and introduction to snowshoeing. The group is small, with a maximum of 6 participants, to ensure a personalised experience and to allow for the tour plan to be adapted to the group’s wishes. After distributing the equipment (snowshoes, ski poles and goggles), you will set off to Voss Gondola to begin the trip!
Voss Gondola is a contemporary and secure cable car that shuttles between Voss Railway Station and Hangurstoppen. It is a great way to travel to the top of Mount Hanguren in comfort, while experiencing mesmerising views of the snowy mountain landscape. You will exit the Gondola near the top of Hanguren, just outside Voss Resort's ski slopes. Then, the snowshoe adventure begins!
Following the instructions of the guide, you will travel through the deep snow in the evening air. At this height, you will have an excellent view of Voss and the starry sky. The moon will illuminate the mountainous terrain which stretches into the distance. This family-friendly trip also has opportunities for children to play in the snow, slide down small slopes or follow grouse tracks.
Midway through, you will stop for a break and your guide will show you how to build a campfire. A locally sourced meal will be prepared around the fire. While you enjoy your meal and hot drinks, the guide will share insights about the local history and knowledge about winter outdoor life. Time by the fire will allow you to enjoy the silence of the forest - far from everyday life. After continuing on your snowshoe tour, you will then return to Voss in the comfortable Gondola.
