Experience the peacefulness of the pristine nature of Raundalen in Voss on this guided snowshoe hike. Welcoming adventures ages 8 and up on this family-friendly excursion!
Voss is a region in Hordaland County, Norway, known for its stunning natural landscapes, including mountains, lakes, and fjords. Raundalen is a valley situated within Voss, it is also known for its typical Norwegian scenery such as mountainsides and forests. The secluded valley features unspoilt and wild nature. Snowshoeing is the perfect activity to discover the beauty of this district in Voss!
This snowshoe hike will begin at the meeting point in Voss. There, you will meet your experienced guide who will make sure you have the required clothing and go through the plan for the day. You will be given a safety briefing and guide to snowshoeing, as well as receiving all of your equipment (snowshoes, ski poles and goggles). This trip is family-friendly, and no prior experience is needed. Your group will be small, with a maximum of 6 participants, to ensure a personalised tour. Once everyone is dressed and ready, you will set off to the train station to begin your adventure!
Together, you will take a short and comfortable train ride to Raundalen. Along the way, you will pass a scenic route and discover the contrasts between snow, river, forest and steep mountains. After arriving in Raundalen, the snowshoe hike will begin. Your guide will take you on the best route to immerse yourself in the winter wilderness of the region. You will pass the magnificent Raundalen River, which winds its way through narrow gorges and forested marshlands. Snowy mountains with steep hillsides frame the valley on both sides, a trully picturesque site to behold. With a little bit of luck, you may also spot some of the wild animals, including deer and elks. Your guide will teach you some basic life skills for travelling safely in the winter, as well as sharing interesting facts about the local culture.
Midway through the excursion, you will stop for a break and build a warm campfire. Your guide will show you how to build a bonfire out in the wild. A locally sourced meal will be prepared on the fire for you to enjoy, as well as some hot drinks. As you take in the peaceful surroundings, your guide will continue to share insights about local customs and life in this area. After your break, you will continue on the snowshoe tour, before returning by train back to the centre of Voss.
