Activity description

Go dolphin watching on the Algarve Coast and enjoy a boat trip to the Benagil caves! A boat trip along the Portuguese coast just 1 hour from Faro will allow you to discover the nature of the Algarve and the coast from the sea.

Portugal is becoming one of Europe's favourite destinations for those looking for charming cities, authentic gastronomy and good weather all year round. Apart from the already well known and touristic Lisbon and Porto, if you prefer beach tourism you cannot miss the Algarve.

The Algarve is a region in the south of Portugal, whose beaches are a historical heritage site and one of the best surfing spots in Europe. The best known city is Faro, capital of the region, but don't miss the opportunity to visit Lagos, Portimao and Albufeira. The Algarve is also home to two of the most impressive landscapes in Portugal: the Benagil caves, half an hour from Portimao, and the Punta da Pietá, fifteen minutes from Lagos; imposing rock formations resulting from the erosion of wind and sea.

Portimao is one of the most beautiful towns in the Algarve and an ideal area for dolphin watching in Portugal. So why not take a guided boat trip along the Algarve coast? Departing from the port of Portimao, the captain will take you to Praia da Marinha, one of the best beaches in Portugal for its spectacular cliffs. You will then continue to the iconic Benagil Caves, where you will make a stop. This cave is a rocky cavity with two entrances and a crystal clear beach inside, but most impressive is the Algar de Benagil, an eye in the ceiling of the cave that illuminates the whole room. The tour continues to other beaches and coves until you enter the Atlantic Ocean in search of dolphin spotting. Dolphin watching in Portugal is regulated by Decree-Law, so dolphin watching is done with the safety of the animals in mind and respecting their space. At the end of the tour, we will return back to the port of Portimao.

The tour lasts a total of 2.5 hours and during the whole excursion you will be accompanied by a marine biologist guide who will give you entertaining information about the fauna, flora and history of the Algarve. In addition, you will make several stops at beaches and coves where you can swim or snorkel. As you can see, a very complete boat tour of the Algarve that you will love!

So don't think twice and come whale watching in the Algarve and take a boat trip to the Benagil caves!
