Baby Pony Experience on the Piton Maïdo, Reunion Island

The Piton Maïdo, an iconic peak on Reunion Island rising to nearly 2,200 metres, offers breathtaking views over the Mafate cirque. It is in this spectacular setting that you’ll meet the professional team at the Chevaux du Maïdo equestrian centre, an ideal place to explore the equestrian world, just 45 minutes from Saint-Paul or Saint-Gilles. Nestled in the heart of a lush, unspoilt forest, the centre enjoys an exceptional natural environment with magnificent viewpoints throughout.

Designed to offer your child a safe and suitable introduction, this baby-pony experience in Reunion Island is perfect for discovering the equestrian world at a gentle pace. Your child will be able to groom, cuddle, and lead their pony. Several routes will be available (on foot and/or on ponyback), and they can choose to do only the walking route or both! In fact, the children are the stars of this activity—they decide which workshops they want to take part in! With one pony shared between two children, the little ones can take turns and enjoy themselves just as they wish.

For safety, you will accompany your child on foot, staying close to their pony. Alongside your reassuring presence, your child will of course be guided by a qualified BPJEPS riding or equestrian-tourism instructor. Thanks to the instructor’s gentle approach, any worries your child may have will quickly disappear!
