Activity description

Take a ride on the wild side and experience the thrill of dog sledding!

Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, the small village of Abisko is located in the Arctic Circle and has an incredible, winter backdrop of nature at its finest. Dog sledding in Abisko is a must-do adventure as you traverse through the remote wilderness, taking in the scenery that surrounds you and your pack of sled dogs. 

As your guide will drive the sled, you will be able to enjoy the experience and the scenery around you. While on the dog sled, feel free to take photos and videos. As it can be quite chilly in the Arctic, you’ll get a chance to have a small break during the tour to warm up and pet the dogs.  

Back to the camp after a 2-hour ride, you will be able to help the guide in the dog yard to unharness the dogs and walk them back to their homes.

You’ll be sure to make some unforgettable memories (and some new canine friends!).

Offer Description

Sit back and enjoy being pulled by dogs through the snow! The guide will drive the sled so all you have to worry about is making sure you're camera-ready to take incredible images of the majestic, surrounding nature around you.

Meet 15 minutes before start of tour. 

Special terms

In December and January, the afternoon tours will end in total darkness. There is a good chance to see the northern lights! 

Free transportation from STF Abisko Mountain Station can be arranged with your instructor after the booking is confirmed.

The opportunity for this dogsledding adventure surpasses all the previous dogsledding I have done in the past. Past experiences lasted only a short duration and distance where this adventure went for about 2 hours and several kilometers. These dogs were enthusiastic and really gave it a showing that they loved to run, and run they did through some of the most beautiful scenery in the area. Of particular note was the tall hill that gave great views over Abisko, and the surrounding parkland.

Il s’agit d’un petit hôtel dans le village d’Abisko qui possède des chiens (4 x 12 chiens il me semble). L’équipe est jeune et expérimentée, tres sympa, prête à répondre à toutes les questions. Les chiens sont en bonne santé et toujours félicités/récompensés de façon bienveillante. Je recommande vivement cette activité !

Took the 2pm slot. It was very nice as we caught the last rays of sunlight and sled through the dark snowscape. The guide was very nice and they let us play with the dogs midway through! Very nice experience.

Really amazing dogs, very strong! Just wished they have a nicer home to stay in and hopefully have some fun by themselves in the summer! Otherwise, they are well taken care of, they each have names which is nice. The guides have been really great too!
