Bohuslän is a coastal region in southwestern Sweden known for its stunning archipelago, picturesque fishing villages, and granite cliffs. Bohuslän is renowned for its archipelago, which consists of thousands of islands, islets, and skerries. On this trip, you’ll explore the archipelago and visit one of its islands - Hamneskär!
For this tour, you can choose a morning departure from Marstrand or an afternoon departure from Skärhamn. Marstrand is a charming island situated in the northern part of the Bohuslän region. Skärhamn is a picturesque coastal town situated on the western coast of Tjörn Island, one of the largest islands in the Bohuslän region. You’ll be greeted onboard the Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) by the experienced guide. The sturdy boat can hold up to 20 passengers and is designed to master waves at high speeds.
The captain will set sail across the Bohuslän archipelago. Along the way, you’ll pass many small uninhabited islands and have a phenomenal view of the Swedish coastline. If you’re lucky, you may spot some wild seals perching on the cliffs! You’ll arrive at Hamneskär, an island known for its rugged landscapes and rich maritime history. It is located in the middle of the ocean, approximately 4 nautical miles from the shore.
You’ll disembark the boat at Hamneskär and have some time to explore this historical island. The most prominent feature is the Hamneskär Lighthouse, one of the most famous lighthouses in Sweden. Built in 1868, it served as a crucial navigational aid for ships passing the treacherous waters of the Kattegat and Skagerrak. You’ll visit the lighthouse and have a tour to the top of the building. Then, you’ll stop at a café hosted by the award-winning hotel “Pater Noster – A Home on the Horizon”. You can enjoy an optional lunch or glass of beer or wine in the café’s wild courtyard. After exploring Hamneskär Island, you’ll return to the boat and sail back to Marstrand or Skärhamn.
