Activity description

Drive your own pack of Alaskan huskies on this thrilling 4-hour adventure in the wilderness of Kiruna, no previous experience needed!

Learn what it takes to lead your own team of energetic and loyal huskies in the wonderful winter wonderland of Oinakka just outside Kiruna. Dog sledding is one of the most popular activities in Lapland, and now you have the opportunity to drive your own sled and lead a team of 4 Alaskan huskies!

This activity will take you straight from your accommodation in town to the depths of the Lappish wilderness. Pick-up is provided from Kiruna, and you can also choose to met your guide directly at their base in Oinakka, just outside of Kiruna, and near the world's original Icehotel.

Once there, your instructor will provide you with all the necessary information, and show you some mushing techniques as well. Then, it is time to meet your team and gear up with warm clothes. Ready? Time to head off onto the snow, and lead your furry companions in the wilderness and through the frozen wintry landscapes and old pine forests!

Along the way, you will make a stop in a traditional Sami tipi to rest the dogs and enjoy a delicious light meal. Warm up with a hot drink and some cookies, and listen to the stories the guide has to tell about the ancient Sami culture, and the wildlife in the Swedish Lapland.

Once you've recharged, it is time to make your way back to the kennel. Marvel at the glittering frozen winter landscapes and lakes of the Swedish wonderland, as you lead your team back to the farm. Then, it is time to say good bye to your four-legged friends, and leave Kiruna with lifelong memories!

This is the perfect activity for adventurers who want to discover the Arctic wilderness in the most traditional of ways. Book your self-drive dog sledding trip and prepare to uncover the wonderlands of Kiruna and the Swedish Lapland!
