Kiruna is a town located in the northernmost part of Sweden, situated in the province of Lapland, which has been inhabited for at least 6,000 years. It is situated 145 km (90 miles) north of the Arctic Circle and features stunning outdoor scenery. Kiruna is the perfect destination for curious travellers who want to experience the frozen winter landscapes of Sweden.

This full-day excursion includes an overnight stay at a wilderness camp in Kiruna. You can either meet directly at the camp, or be picked up from Kiruna city or nearby areas (please specify when booking). After arriving at the camp, you will be shown to your wooden cabin where you will spend the night. Warm clothing, a towel and a sleeping bag will be provided. There is also a sauna available at the facilities, which you are welcome to use during your stay!

Once you have settled into your home for the evening, it will be time for the dog sledding excursion in Kiruna! The experienced guide will introduce you to the adorable and friendly Siberian Huskies. You will go through a safety briefing and dog mushing lesson, so you are prepared to drive your own sled. You can choose to share a sled drawn by 5-6 dogs with another guest, or drive your own sled drawn by 3-4 dogs. When sharing a sled, one person remains seated while the other drives and you have the chance to switch places during the trip. Children are also welcome on the tour and will sit in the sled with an adult!

After getting equipped for your adventure, you will set off into the beautiful forests surrounding the camp. The energetic dogs love to run and will pull you over the snowy terrain. You will pass by diverse landscapes, such as rivers, pine trees and lakes. Feel like a true local as you drive the sled yourself! After the fun-filled excursion, you will return to the camp where you will enjoy a delicious lunch.

In the evening, you will have time to explore the wilderness camp and play with the huskies! A traditional Lappish dinner will be served along with hot drinks in the cabin around a fire. The guide will share insights about the region and answer any questions you may have. The following morning, you will set off on another dog sledding excursion in Kiruna after breakfast! Upon returning to the camp, you will say goodbye to your new furry friends and head back.

This tour is a great opportunity to spend the night in the peaceful nature of Swedish Lapland while trying self-drive dog sledding in Kiruna through the wilderness. Book this overnight cabin stay in Kiruna now to make unforgettable memories!

Dog sledding was so much fun! We rode for about 3 hours to the cabin the first day and 1.5 hours on the way back. Our guide Gijs was fantastic. We got to help feed and prepare the dogs, get firewood, and get water from the river. The food was amazing and the overnight tour was definitely worth the extra time and cost compared to just a day tour.

The activity started with pick up in time in Kiruna. Afterwards we were provided with warm clothes, shoes, gloves and hats. Being ready for the cold we were shown how to set up the sleds and prepare the dogs. Even though this is quite a long process it is necessary for the tour because in the evening and next morning you need to be able to handle the process by yourself with some support of the guide, since you are in the cabin in the woods. The pure sledding in the afternoon took around 2,5 hours (which was plenty of time, towards the end we started the get cold) and another hour the next morning. The night we stayed in a cabin with no power or water, but it had a stove and a Sauna and was clean. Also the dinner and breakfast food was good considering the circumstances. Important to mention is that there is no possibility to shower, you can only use heated up water to clean yourself a bit.

2 sorties exceptionnelles en chiens de traîneau. Belle expérience dans un cadre magnifique et belle relation avec les chiens.
