About the activity

White water rafting is one of the most exciting river activities ever created, and it consists of paddling through the turbulent rapids that are naturally found in rivers on an inflatable raft, usually with several other people and one guide to direct the expedition. White water rafts are engineered to handle everything the river can throw at them, so all you have to do is paddle and enjoy the adrenaline-filled drops and peaceful stretches of the river. Now, the River Tummel is situated just north of Pitlochry, which is located in Highland Perthshire, Scotland, and it is like no other in Scotland thanks to its stunning landscapes and technical rapids.

On the day of your white water rafting excursion down the River Tummel, you'll need to arrive at the meeting point outside the Scottish & Southern Energy power plant, near Pitlochry. There, you'll meet your expert instructor, who will give you a thorough safety and activity briefing before distributing the wetsuit, helmet, buoyancy aid, and paddle you'll use during the excursion. You'll have time to set up and once you're ready, you'll be driven to the rafting starting point at the river, board your raft, and go!

This white water rafting experience in the River Tummel, near Edinburgh, will get you working together with your instructor, who will instruct you on what to do from the top of the raft. You'll need to guide the raft from stunning and relatively tranquil deep pools, down through technical rapids such as the 'Zig-Zag' and 'Shark's Tooth'. The main part of the trip is Grade II/III. This prepares you for the final ‘piece de la resistance’: a two-tier, 18-foot drop (Grade IV) rapid. This drops into the mystical Loch Faskally, where you will float away from the falls and towards the shore.

Keep in mind that this is a sporty activity that calls for a good amount of paddling and, depending on how the day goes, may even involve swimming, so you should be in relatively good physical condition to be able to participate. Additionally, you should remember to bring your swimsuit, a pair of old shoes that can (and will) get wet, a non-cotton underlayer to put under your swimsuit if you want it, and warm clothes to change into if its chilly outside, as well as anything else you might need (medication, bottle of water, etc.) to spend 2 to 3 hours paddling in the stunning River Tummel on this white water rafting experience!

Don't miss out on a fun, but safe adventure that will show you the stunning landscapes of Highland Perthshire while you splash and paddle along the river. Book your white water rafting excursion down the River Tumme, near Edinburgh, today!
