Take your chance to enjoy some of the best cascades, valleys, and forest views in Wales on this incredible day hike to the waterfalls in Brecon Beacons National Park! Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (or Brecon Beacons) is a wonderful place for a nice walk or hike, thanks to its stunning landscapes, as well as its historical, cultural, and scientific value. The park is named after the mountain range at its center, which includes the highest mountain in South Wales, at 886 meters. Now, Waterfall Country is the colloquial name for the upper reaches of the Vale of Neath, where you can find over 10 stunning waterfalls that are mostly open for public access, and it is one of the most visited places in the area.

On the day of your day hike to the waterfalls in Brecon Beacons National Park, your instructor may offer you a transportation service from Cardiff or South Wales to the meeting point (check special terms), located at the Sgwd Gwladys Cafe, in the village of Pontneddfechan. Once you're with your expert guide, they'll give you a thorough safety and activity briefing, so you know exactly where you're going and what to do to stay safe and have a great time! You'll have the option to pick a private or shared experience, but either way, you'll get to experience an incredibly fun hike.

Once you're ready, it's time to go! You'll spend around 6 hours hiking around Waterfall Country, concentrating on keeping up with the pace of the guide, and observing the beautiful Welsh landscapes. You will hike a distance of 15 kilometers with a 400-meter ascent, and on rough, muddy, and broken ground, which means you should prepare for a challenging day. You'll start this day hike to the waterfalls in Brecon Beacons National Park by visiting Sgwd Gwladys waterfall and learning about the princess its named after. Then you'll continue toward the Horseshoe Falls, a dramatic waterfall that drops into a horseshoe-shaped pool, with smaller cascades at its foot.

Next, you'll continue toward Sgwd Ddwli Isaf waterfall, where if you're lucky, you'll get to climb up a bit and enjoy the landscapes. Somewhere midhike, you'll stop to take a break and have lunch, while observing some beautiful landscapes. And when you're ready, you'll continue this day hike to the waterfalls in Brecon Beacons National Park toward Sgwd yr Eira, the most iconic waterfall in the park, and one you will be able to walk behind! Finally, you'll walk over the hill to Dinas Rock, where you'll start the way back to the meeting point for the end of the activity.

Don't forget to bring warm, comfortable clothing to climb in, sports shoes or hiking boots that are hopefully waterproof, a raincoat and pants if you have them, a water bottle, some sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, your lunch, and some snacks, a swimsuit and towel if you want to try to swim in the waterfalls' pools, as well as anything else you might need (medication, hiking poles, etc.) to spend an amazing 6 hours on this day hike to the waterfalls in Brecon Beacons National Park, Wales!
