What are the activities to do in Chalkidiki?
Halkidiki or Chalkidiki region is in Central Makedonia, Northern Greece. Halkidiki covers the densely wooded mountain area of Holomontas (1165 meters) on the main land and the three peninsulas Kassandra, Sithonia and Athos. Shaped like Poseidon’s trident, the peninsulas are sticking out into the northwestern Aegean Sea, called therefore the three ‘legs‘.
Halkidiki offers just everything for your perfect vacation. The coastline is of outstanding natural beauty with its amazing landscapes, spectacular beaches, turquoise gulfs and picturesque scenery. Green pine forests reach right down to the golden beaches, crystal clear waters reflect the sunbeams, sheltered bays invite you to stay and relax.
Try the traditional Greek taverns that offer culinary variety, some of Greece’s best known trendy beach bars ensure some exciting night life and last but not least the friendly, warm and welcoming people in Halkidiki guarantee that you feel at home within a second.
Kassandra, the best developed ‘leg’ regarding tourism, is located about an hours’ drive south east of the vibrant metropolis of Thessaloniki, your arrival airport. Your journey to the peninsula will already be impressive because Kassandra is connected to the mainland by a bridge at Nea Potidea which has a breathtaking panoramic view.
