Nestled on the island’s northern coast, Alcudia is framed by the shimmering Bay of Alcudia and the rugged Serra de Tramuntana mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The interplay of turquoise waters, golden beaches, and dramatic cliffs creates a setting where the Mediterranean’s marine life flourishes. Here, the gentle rhythm of the waves and the soft salt air set the stage for encounters with some of the ocean’s most majestic inhabitants. Whale watching in Alcudia is more than an excursion; it is an immersion into the wild heart of Mallorca’s seascape, where the island’s outdoor spirit and natural beauty converge.

Setting out from Alcudia’s historic port, whale watching tours typically follow routes along the northern coastline, skirting the Cap de Formentor and the protected waters of the Parc Natural de S’Albufera. The experience unfolds at a measured pace, with the boat gliding over calm, crystalline waters under the Mediterranean sun. The air is tinged with the scent of sea spray, and the only sounds are the distant calls of seabirds and the gentle hum of the vessel. As you scan the horizon, the anticipation builds until the unmistakable silhouette of a whale breaches the surface, sending ripples across the water. The contrast between tranquil observation and the sudden thrill of a sighting is palpable. Encounters may include fin whales, pilot whales, and occasionally dolphins, all set against the backdrop of Mallorca’s rugged coastline and the deep blue expanse of the Balearic Sea. Tours generally last between two and four hours, offering ample time to absorb the shifting light, the play of colours on the water, and the sense of connection with the marine world.

Did it as a surprise for my boyfriends birthday and we absolutely loved it, we were hesitant at first as the weather wasn’t very hot but luckily the sun was mostly on us so it wasn’t too bad. We had so much fun and it’s honestly one of my favourite memories, it was so relaxing and funny.

Amazing time watching the dolphins and seeing the landscapes of Mallorca from the sea, as well as stopping at the caves and coves

I loved every part of the activity- it was very challenging at parts (so not suitable for all fitness levels) but our guide tailored each activity to the needs of the group and led us through underwater caves and along rocky terrains.
