Explore the Lofoten Islands with Polar-folk – Authentic outdoor adventures guided by locals

Based just 25 minutes from Svolvær and 45 minutes from Leknes, Polar-folk offers guided outdoor experiences in the heart of the Lofoten mountains. Founded in 2024 by Timea and Paul, this local duo shares a deep passion for nature, wildlife, and the Arctic lifestyle.

Polar-folk specialises in small group adventures year-round: scenic hikes, snowshoeing excursions during the winter months, and stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) in summer. Each outing is designed to be both immersive and informative, with guides eager to share their knowledge of the local ecosystem and culture.

All tours are led by certified nature guides and include quality equipment such as snowshoes, microspikes, poles, and SUP boards. Group sizes are kept intentionally small to ensure safety, comfort, and a more personal connection with the surroundings.

Whether you're looking for a peaceful walk through snow-covered trails or a paddle along stunning fjords, Polar-folk offers authentic ways to explore the beauty of the Lofoten Islands. Customised tours are also available on request.

Timea, our guide, was incredibly kind, warm-hearted, and knowledgeable. She shared so many fascinating insights about the landscape, nature, and local life, and she took a lot of time to answer all our questions in a thoughtful and engaging way. You could really feel how much she loves what she does — and that enthusiasm made the experience even more special

Our guide was very kind and she told us a lot about her habits in Lofoten and the culture. In addition, she has a very nice dog who followed us during our day.
