Don't miss out on a fun and challenging backcountry skiing excursion to the Soutajan from Pyhätunturi! Only around 1.5 hours from Rovaniemi, in the heart of Finland and southern Finnish Lapland, Pyhätunturi is a small town that's surrounded by beautiful, untouched Arctic nature. The city is very close to the activity and ski resort of Pyhätunturi, which is very well-known for its skiing trails and excellent snowy conditions for the sport.
On the day of your backcountry skiing excursion to the Soutajan peak, you'll need to arrive at the Lucky Rant Saloon in Pyhätunturi to meet your instructor. There, they'll distribute the OAC skis and poles that you'll use throughout the excursion, and they'll teach you how to wear and how to handle them. They will also give you a thorough safety briefing to avoid any mishaps and tell you exactly where you're going on your tour, which might change depending on the weather conditions of the day and the physical level of the group.
Once you're ready, you'll set off! You'll spend 4 hours exploring the stunning landscapes of the Soutaja Fell and making your way to its peak through the snow. Your instructor will teach you all they can about the fauna and flora that populate the region, until you reach the Soutajan hut, where you'll take a well-deserved break with warm drinks and snacks. Then, it's time to have some fun with the descent of the mountain on your skis on the way back to the original meeting point.
Keep in mind that the temperatures in the Arctic can drop between -10 and -20 degrees Celsius, so you need to come prepared for your 2-hour skin-based skiing excursion from Pyhätunturi, with good quality wool or thermal underlayers, wind and waterproof outerwear, a hat, a scarf, gloves, and even a backpack with some extra layers inside, just in case you need them.
Take your chance to spend half a day off the beaten path in the peaceful, wild landscapes of Finnish Lapland. Book your backcountry skiing excursion to the Soutajan from Pyhätunturi today!
