Activity description

Take part in one of the best winter activities in Finland and experience unforgettable husky sledding from Rovaniemi. Welcoming adventurers of all ages on this family-friendly excursion!

Rovaniemi is the capital city of Lapland in northern Finland, and a popular destination during the winter months. Its proximity to the Arctic Circle results in snowy conditions, creating a beautiful white wonderland. This unique tour is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will become the highlight of your winter holidays in Lapland. Let a group of husky dogs lead you through Arctic nature while you enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

After being picked up by your guide in Rovaniemi, the tour starts at the husky kennel in Parpalandia. Here you will receive a driving lesson and safety briefing, before being introduced to the adorable and friendly Huskies! After that, you are ready to take your place in the sled and start steering your own husky team through the Arctic forest.

Normally two people share a sled, with one person steering and one sitting in the sled. It is possible to change positions in the middle of the track. Small children can sit together with an adult. If you wish to have a sled only for yourself, you can also book the solo driving option. An experienced musher will guide the tour (steering their own husky team) for the entire duration and will help you if needed.

You will drive your sled through the incredible forests surrounding the kennel. The sled ride lasts approximately 6-10km, with plenty of opportunities to stop and take pictures along the way. Discover the natural beauty of the Arctic landscapes while the dogs run faster over the snow.

Once back in the kennel, you will gather inside a kota, a small Finnish wooden hut. Here you can warm up and learn more about huskies and the region. The guide will also happily answer any questions you have about the huskies, their training, and daily life. Listen to their stories and find out more about huskies by the fire with a small Finnish barbecue of sausages (makkara), cookies and hot juice (vegan/vegetarian options are available upon request).

Before leaving Parpalandia, you will be able to buy a Husky Musher Driving License for you or your child. There is also a small souvenir store where you can buy products made by local artisans. You will leave with great memories and support the local economy at the same time! After you have said goodbye to your four-legged friends, you will be transported back to Rovaniemi.

This dog sledding excursion is a fun opportunity to drive your own team of Huskies through the breathtaking landscape of Finnish Lapland. Book your next unforgettable adventure from Rovaniemi now!
