Located in Northern Finland, Ylläs is situated north of the Arctic Circle. As the second-largest ski resort in Finland (second to Levi), it is a popular destination for outdoor activity lovers and nature enthusiasts. Reindeer sledding is not only an ancient means of transportation in Lapland it is also a fun way to enjoy the picturesque winter landscapes!
Your adventure begins after being picked up at the meeting point (please choose between listed locations and specify when booking). After a scenic drive, you and your group (a maximum of 13 participants) will be greeted by your experienced reindeer herder guide who will provide a safety briefing. Next, you will put on your winter gear, including thermal overalls, boots, wool socks, a hat, a scarf, and gloves. Then, the fun starts! You'll head out into the snowy landscapes of Lapland in the company of your guide on a 4 km (2.4 miles) reindeer sled ride, enjoying the beautiful snow-capped forests as you go.
After the ride, you'll be treated to warm beverages and cookies in a heated Lappish teepee while your guide shares fascinating insights and entertaining facts about life as a reindeer herder in Finland. A perfect way to end such a unique experience! After saying goodbye to your four-legged friends, you'll board the shuttle back to Ylläs with lifelong memories.
