Course of events
Day 1:
- meet at 9.00am, end of session 11.30am/12.00pm (depending on number of participants)
- meet at 2.15pm, end of session 4.30pm/17.00pm
Departure from the beach to work on the exercises.
Day 2 & 3:
- meet at 7:30am, end of session 10:00am
- meet at 4:30pm, end of session 7:30pm
Departure by boat to dive sites at suitable depths (20 metres maximum).
The theory is in the form of a small booklet to be studied with MCQs on the second day of training.
Objectives
- Diving techniques: discovering and using equipment, breathing with a regulator, balance and moving around underwater.
- Safety: learning basic safety rules, communicating underwater and reacting to minor incidents.
- Personal autonomy: simple management of your dive (equilibration, mask emptying, regulator recovery).
- Organisation and environment: preparing for a dive, following the guide's instructions and raising awareness of the marine environment.
Activity requirements
You need to be able to swim to take part in this activity.
You will need a medical certificate stating that you are not contraindicated in diving.
Parental authorisation is required for minors taking part in the activity.
Special terms
Pregnant women are not allowed to take part.
Training only takes place on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The FFESSM/ANMP Level 1 course is a French scuba diving certification designed to train divers to dive to depths of up to 20 metres under the supervision of an instructor. Spread over three days, this diving course in Cap Cerbère will teach you how to prepare your equipment and master the essential techniques of scuba diving, including buoyancy control, breathing, underwater communication, and finning with a tank.
For your comfort, the Cap Cerbère dive centre offers excellent facilities to make your three-day course as enjoyable as possible. On site, you’ll find changing rooms, showers, parking, and a seafront terrace right by the beach. The entire team is fully qualified and experienced, ready to guide you every step of the way. Training sessions take place in small groups of up to four participants, ensuring a friendly atmosphere and personalised instruction.
During the programme, you’ll complete six dives, all located close to the centre within the protected waters of the Cerbère-Banyuls National Nature Reserve. This preserved marine environment offers water temperatures that can reach 23°C in summer and is home to a wide variety of fish—including sea bream, mullets and groupers—providing an unforgettable underwater spectacle.
