Sailing is a sport that intrigues you? Then join Spi en Tête in Hendaye for a 2 days sailing discovery course in the Basque Country!
Whether you have already been at the helm of a sailboat or you have never set foot aboard this type of boat, this sailing discovery course in Hendaye is open to anyone interested in this water sport! Under the supervision of a state-qualified instructor with a passion for sailing, you will have the pleasure of learning the basics of sailing along the Basque coast from Biarritz to San Sebastian.
You will board the sailboat at the port of Hendaye, in the bay of Txingudi (or Chingoudy, in the Bidassoa estuary) with calm waters ideal for beginners. You will board a Grand Surprise type sailboat measuring 9.54 meters long. Very maneuverable and easy to handle, this type of sailboat was designed to have pleasant sensations at the helm, which makes it an ideal model to follow a 2 days course!
During this sailing course, you will learn the basics of sailing a sailboat, navigation according to the wind, the language of the sea, the essential knots to know, but also the crew maneuvers to make you a good crew member!

2 days of training (6 hours per day): 10 am - 1 pm / 2 pm - 5 pm
Objectives
- Learn the basics of sailing
- Drive a sailboat according to the wind
- Learn the language of the sailors, the essential knots to know, as well as the maneuvers in crew
- Make yourself a good crew member, or recover forgotten reflexes!
Activity requirements
Unaccompanied minors need parental permission.
The instructor will ask you to sign a swimming certificate before the outing: if you do not know how to swim, you will have to inform him at that time so that he can provide you with a life jacket to wear during the navigation.
Special terms
If the weather is dangerous, the course will be cancelled or postponed, and if you do not have another date available, you will be reimbursed.
If the weather is simply bad, the course will not be cancelled or refunded, but you may agree with Spi en Tête on another date if your respective schedules allow it.
