Enjoy 2 hours and 15 minutes of total immersion in hydrospeed in the Hérault Gorges at Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, exploring a pristine white-water route.
- A state-qualified instructor specialising in white-water rafting, with a small group of no more than 10 participants.
- A passage beneath the Parapluie Waterfall, an exclusive site accessible only by hydrospeed or canyoning, with optional jumps
- All equipment provided (reinforced wetsuit, buoy, fins, helmet, lifejacket) and an eco-friendly approach at a Natura 2000-designated site.
Course of events
Please allow 3 hours on site for the whole experience.
- Welcome by the team at the meeting point (free car park) and an introduction to the session
- Equipment including a reinforced wetsuit, fins, helmet and buoyancy aid, followed by a full safety briefing
- An introduction to swimming techniques using the Hydrospeed float and guidelines for navigating white water
- A 3-minute walk to reach the launch point
- A 2-hour 15-minute hydrospeed descent (approx. 5 km): learning how to steer, navigating the rapids, optional jumps in the Hérault Gorges, passing under the Cascade du Parapluie, and taking photos and videos
- End of the river trip, meet up and debrief with the instructor
- Return shuttle to the meeting point, return of equipment and end of the experience

Supervised by a state-qualified instructor specialising in white-water rafting from the Goût d’Aventure team, the adventure begins on the river once you’ve put on a reinforced thermal wetsuit, a helmet and a life jacket. As you make your way down the river, the journey alternates between invigorating stretches where you’ll need to swim, sections where you’ll navigate rapids, and areas with churning waves. A stop along the route offers the chance to take optional jumps from the canyon rocks. The highlight of the trip is passing beneath the Cascade du Parapluie, a dripping natural arch that makes for some memorable photos. Throughout this hydrospeed excursion in Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, the guide shares fascinating stories about the local flora and fauna, such as the dipper and the riparian vegetation.
