Course of events
Please allow two hours on site for the whole experience, including a total paddling time of 1 hour 15 minutes.
- Meet the North Fjord Kayak team at the designated meeting point and receive an introduction to the experience.
- Attend a theoretical introduction covering sea kayaking, safety procedures and paddling techniques.
- Collect your equipment and prepare your tandem sea kayak for departure.
- Launch your kayak near the harbour and paddle across the fjord towards the opposite shore.
- Follow the coastline of Akureyri, passing close to a geothermal waterfall.
- Land on a small unspoilt beach beside the waterfall.
- Hike to the geothermal river and enjoy an optional dip in the natural hot spring, weather permitting.
- Pack up the equipment on the beach and paddle back across the fjord to the starting point.
- Return your kayaking equipment, collect your photos and conclude the activity.

You must be able to swim to take part in this activity.
Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
