Activity description

Hunt for the Northern Lights in Northern Iceland!

Admire the magnificent Icelandic landscapes and try to observe this magnificent phenomenon!

When you arrive at the meeting point, you will meet your guide who will accompany you on your activity. He'll explain how the excursion works. You will then board an 8-passenger vehicle and set off from Akureyri by Jeep on your hunt for the Northern Lights.

The route of your excursion is never the same, depending on the weather, road conditions and, of course, the aurora forecast. Thanks to this last tool, your guide will have the most up-to-date information to optimise the search for clear skies and strong solar activity. Once you've found the ideal spot, look up and... wait!

Depending on the option you choose, you'll have a hot chocolate to warm you up during this hunt for the Northern Lights by Jeep from Akureyri.

The duration of the trip will be approximately 2.5 hours depending on where the ideal Northern Lights sightings are forecast.

Course of events

- Arrive at the meeting point and meet your guide

- Departure for the aurora borealis hunt (approx. 2h30)

- Return to the starting point and end of the activity

Special terms

The Northern Lights are natural phenomena. We therefore cannot guarantee that you will see them during the activity.

If conditions do not look favourable at all, you will be contacted on the day of the tour, and we will cancel with a full refund. Each day, we decide at around 6pm whether conditions are favourable for the tour.

If the night tour goes ahead and the Northern Lights are not seen, we will offer the tour again free of charge the next time we have a booking (the second tour could be by minibus or jeep).
