Activity description

Experience the thrill of snowmobiling under the Northern Lights on this 2-hour, guided excursion from Kirkenes. Welcoming ages 10 and up!

Located in northeastern Norway, Kirkenes is known for its stunning mountainous landscapes and Arctic wilderness, as well as one of the best places in the world to view the breathtaking natural phenomenon of the Northern Lights. Snowmobiling outside of the city limits may be one of the most fun ways to experience the dancing Aurora Borealis!

Your adventure begins after being picked up from the Thon or Scandic Hotels in Kirkenes (please specify when booking). After a 15-minute drive to the Snowhotel, you and your group (a maximum capacity of 20 people) will put on your winter gear, including thermal overalls and boots. Then, you'll meet your experienced guide who will go over a safety briefing in addition to an introduction to snowmobiling. With your helmet on, the fun starts! With 2 passengers per snowmobile, you'll set off into the wilderness towards Pasvik Valley in search of the Northern Lights.

Along the way, you will make several stops to take the perfect photo. In addition, you'll be treated to warm juice and a snack, as you relax and enjoy the tranquil winter evening and the majesty of the Northern Lights. Adults in possession of a valid driver's license can also switch and take turns driving the snowmobile. You'll head back into the night to the Snowhotel, returning to Kirkenes with lifelong memories of Scandinavia.

We were originally booked for the Northern Lights Safari, but changed to the afternoon trip. As our trip was in January, it was still dark, but too cloudy for any lights. We still had a lot of fun!
