If you'd like a unique experience in the Norwegian capital, you can't go wrong with this amazing evening hike in the Oslo Forest! Known as one of the greenest cities in the world, Oslo is surrounded by parks, forested hills, fjords, rivers, islands and beaches. This natural environment makes the city an incredible hub for outdoor experiences, including hikes that combine folklore storytelling and a mystical element as the sun goes down.
On the day of your evening hike in the Oslo Forest, you'll need to arrive at the meeting point in front of the café outside Backstube Opera. There, you'll meet your expert instructor, who will explain how the activity will work and how to stay safe as you walk in the gathering darkness. They will also distribute the spikes, headlamps, and poles necessary to be comfortable during the experience.
Once you're ready, it's time to go! You'll head to the starting point of the experience on public transportation if necessary, and start walking at the blue hour, or l'heure bleue, when the sky is darkening into the night. Your instructor will guide you through the forest and tell you interesting and magical local folklore stories that will enchant you. At one point, you will reach a nice spot where a bonfire will be built, so that you can warm up with some delicious warm Gløgg, a mulled wine-type beverage, and some snacks. You'll return to the city centre with amazing memories of your evening "lost" in the forest.
Please keep in mind that the temperature in Oslo can reach up to -5 degrees, so be sure to come prepared with warm winter clothing and good-quality snow boots. Additionally, you should know that there are no restrooms along the path you'll take during this 3.5-hour hike through the Oslo forest, so you should be prepared to use the "Facilitrees" (out in the forest).
Take your chance to immerse yourself in the Norwegian night, explore a beautiful forest, and learn some of the mystical tales that have enchanted locals for centuries. Book your evening hike in the Oslo forest today!
