Activity description

Embark upon an adventure like no other and discover the land of the polar bear on this snowmobile safari in Svalbard, departing from Longyearbyen! Explore the Eastern Coast of the Arctic archipelago and travel a total of 180 km (112 miles) in the company of an experienced guide.

Situated between the North Pole and Norway, the islands of Svalbard are home to approximately 3,000 polar bears who live around  Spitsbergen and Longyearbyen during the winter months. The best chance of catching a glimpse of these amazing creatures is on the East Coast in Spitsbergen, which is hard to access without guides due to its immense desert valleys.

Participants can choose between a 10-hour or a 12-hour (extreme) snowmobile safari, both departing from Longyearbyen with hotel pick-up, lunch, and gear included. Please note that these excursions can accommodate a maximum of 12 participants and that all drivers must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.

Your adventure begins after being picked up at your hotel or meeting at the Svalbard Tourist Information Centre. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by your experienced and knowledgeable guide. Once you've put on your gear, which includes a thermal suit, boots, helmet, goggles, and mittens, your guide will go over the day's itinerary and provide a safety briefing in addition to an introduction to snowmobiling. Then, the fun begins! Feel the rush of adrenaline and the cold winter air as you travel through the Arctic landscape at high speeds.

On this snowmobile adventure, your expert guide will lead the way Eastwards, travelling across glaciers and seemingly eternal valleys of ice. The ride is long but easy and accessible to all levels of fitness. You and your group will stop at the top of the glaciers to take in the magnificent panorama of the uninhabited islands of Barents and Edgeøya.

Please note that in the realm of the polar bears, everyone must remain on guard. Your guide will keep constant vigilance and you will observe these majestic creatures from afar with binoculars. In this region, where we are mere guests to the polar bears who roam the ice, surrounded by wild sea and ancient glaciers, we get to experience the real Svalbard.

For an unforgettable Arctic experience, book this unique polar bear snowmobile safari from Longyearbyen in beautiful Svalbard today!

Fantastic trip to the east coast of Spitsbergen. Certainly got the adrenaline flowing at times. Fast moments on the vehicle across this magnificent terrain. Fantastic views and quite ‘hairy’ at times. Highly recommended.

Echt menschliche. Vielen Dank für diesen faszinierenden Tag. Unvergesslich
