About the activity

The Lyngen Alps are a mountain range and protected area in northern Norway, in Troms county. Around 100 kilometers from Tromsø, and located just north of the Arctic Circle, this place is the perfect background for a snowmobile excursion! With deep fjords, high peaks, beautiful forests, and even the Norwegian Sea, this place is perfect to experience snow-based activities such as ice fishing, skiing, snowshoeing, and of course, snowmobiling.

For this snowmobile excursion in the Lyngen Alps, you'll be picked up from Tromsø's harbor, where you'll meet your instructor for the day. There, you'll board a bus, which takes you to Breivikeidet, a rural gateway to the Lyngen Alps. From there, you'll hop on a ferry as a foot passenger and cross over the scenic Ullsfjord to a small village on the eastern shore, Svensby. An experienced instructor from Camp Troll Snowmobile Safari will meet you from the ferry, and you'll embark on a short drive in a minibus to their camp in the Lyngen Alps.

Upon arrival at the camp in the Lyngen Alps, you'll receive your snowmobiling equipment, including a thermal suit, winter boots, a helmet, and mittens. The guide will go through a safety briefing and driving instructions. Each snowmobile will be shared between two participants, with one driver and one passenger, and the a chance to switch during the tour. Then, the snowmobiling adventure in the Lyngen Alps begins!

As you follow your expert guide, you will drive deep into the wilderness of the majestic Lyngen Alps. As you navigate the stunning snowy landscapes, you'll pass a backdrop of sharp, jagged peaks, winding fjords, and icy glaciers. On this family-friendly snowmobile trip in the Lyngen Alps, you'll learn about the mythical world of trolls, hear stories of Norwegian folklore, and discover some of the most breathtaking winter landscapes in Norway!

The whole experience was just great! Both our guidesSuzy and Karoline were as nice as professional. We felt welcomed and safe at all times. The snowmobile were in perfect condition and the view was breathtaking. We have been served a tasty bowl of soup and enjoyed the company of a very nice group of guests. I recommend!

The activity was great. I thought I would be scared but I quite enjoyed the views, the experience, the fire and the food, the activity provider was so nice and organised, would recommend a 100%, definitely going back when visiting Tromsø!

We had never ridden snowmobiles so it took some getting used to, but the instructors were very patient and the route was gorgeous. With plenty of stops to take pictures and have a quick breather it was a well balanced tour for us beginners. The transport from Tromsø was well organized and a treat by itself with great views from the ferry.

We had a very warm welcome to camp Troll The snow mobiling was amazing, we went out for over two hours with experienced and friendly guides. Back to the camp for a very tasty warm meal. The team at the camp are great
