During the rainy season, this activity is replaced by Hiking at Maïdo on the ramparts of Mafate, Reunion Island.

Come and discover the Cirque de Mafate on Reunion Island with its stunning natural beauty and extraordinary landscapes.

This region is renowned for its high ramparts, villages steeped in cultural history and medicinal plants. A team of knowledgeable local guides will be at hand to help you explore this magical piece of paradise off the well-beaten track.

This five-hours hike brings you to the heart of the Reunion Island’s famous National Park, on scenic mountain trails that never fail to deliver.

This remote settlement was used by slaves in the 19th century to evade their masters. It is made up of steep volcanic cliffs surrounded by wonderful jagged landscapes.

Whether you’re alone, or with your family and friends, a team of local guides will be at hand to share their passion and knowledge of the culture and intricacies of this amazing region.

Meet your guides for a full itinerary brief before jumping into a 4x4 and heading out to the Rivière des Galets where the trail begins. You will negotiate a range of peaks and hills on your way up to l’Ilet de Cayenne.

After this, you will cross a footbridge with stunning 360° views of the amazing mountains that cover the region. This is a perfect spot to take some fantastic photos.

At the end of the trip, you will be driven back to your meeting point to take in this amazing experience.

In hurricane season, if the track is closed, we suggest the hike "at Maïdo on the ramparts of Mafate".

- All children under 18 y/o must be accompanied by an adult.

Bureau Montagne Réunion offers daily outings with no minimum number of participants, for a guaranteed departure from the first reservation.

For group outings, your guide will lead the outing in French. If you want to do your tour in English, Italian, German or Spanish you can choose the private option.

Paysage magnifique, guide super, excellente info sur Mafate, ses habitants, l'histoire... La difficulté est quand même plus que moyenne. Petit pb d'info pour le rdv 4x4. A mieux préciser sur le doc internet.
