Take a 5 to 6 hours hike at the Piton de la Fournaise in Reunion Island, one of the most active volcanoes in the world!

The Piton de la Fournaise, an emblematic site of Reunion Island, rises to 2,632 meters and dominates the southern plains of the island. Built on the south-eastern flank of the Piton des Neiges, it is a volcano known for its frequent eruptions. The aim of this 5 to 6 hours hike is to reach the summit of the Piton de la Fournaise, and to do so by venturing off the beaten track!

Throughout this hike to the Piton de la Fournaise, you will discover a lunar landscape with an end-of-the-world feel that is incredibly powerful and worth the diversions. Once you reach the top of the volcano, you will be able to admire the Dolomieu crater, one of the two volcanic craters located at the top of the Piton de la Fournaise with the Bory crater. It collapsed during the April 2007 eruption and is 1 kilometre long, 750 meters wide and about 350 meters deep.

The hike to the volcano will be punctuated by the comments of your state-qualified mountain guide who will help you learn more about the specificities of this captivating place.

You can chiise to go withot guide and You will follow tourists path. Or You can play for a guide and see splendid places and spots known only by them. For sure it was worthed every euro from price.

Nous avons eu énormément de plaisir à passer cette journée sur le parc du volcan de la Fournaise. Le guide, Fred, nous a a partagé toutes ses connaissances autant en volcanologie qu’en botanique qu’en histoire de l’île; nous avons appris énormément de chose en quelques heures. Fred est passionné par le sujet et arrive à transmettre son savoir autant aux adultes qu’aux enfants. Nous recommandons vivement cette activité !
