It rises in the Sierra Nevada in Granada and flows into the Guadalquivir in Cordoba.

The river offers the possibility of two levels of rafting:

- Cuevas Bajas Canal: I - II. Ideal for families, children from 6 years old can participate.

- Canal de Benamejí to Palenciana: class II - III rapids. The minimum age for this descent is 14 years old.
