- 8:45 to 9:15 - Pick-up at the designated spots around Abisko and introduction to your instructor
- 25-minute scenic drive to the trailhead
- Start of your 5 to 7-hour guided hike to Trollsjön Lake in the Kärkevagge Valley
- Arrive at Trollsjön Lake
- Rest, eat lunch (not included), and take photos
- Hike back through Kärkevagge Valley
- Return to Abisko
- Drop-off at the starting point and end of the activity
Activity requirements
All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Being in good physical condition is required to take part in this activity. You must be able to hike around mountainous, sometimes steep terrain for at least 5 hours.

Located in the Kiruna Municipality, Geargejávri, or more commonly known as Trollsjön Lake, is a beautiful, crystal clear, glacier-created lake with turquoise waters and a depth of around 34 meters. The way to this incredible place is filled with tall cliffs, lush forests, and, if you're lucky, local fauna such as reindeer, lemmings, grouse, hares, and more.
On the day of your guided hike to Trollsjön Lake, you'll be picked up at the most convenient spot in or around Abisko (see special terms). Your Abisko Hikes instructor will introduce themselves and take you on a 25-minute scenic drive toward the starting point of the adventure. There, you'll receive a quick but thorough explanation of how the day will work and what to do to stay safe at all times. And once you're prepared, you'll set off!
You'll hike around the Kärkevagge Valley and discover the towering cliffs and ancient boulders that surround and populate it. After a couple of hours, you'll reach the objective: Trollsjön Lake! You'll sit and immerse yourself in the mesmerizing beauty of this natural wonder, as well as regain your strength with a hearty lunch (not included) and a traditional Swedish fika (simple snack with a drink) before you will have to return to the trailhead to head back to your accommodations in Abisko.
To prepare for the day, you should bring very comfortable sports clothing adapted to the weather, hiking boots or sturdy sports shoes that can take wet, rocky, and mountainous terrain, some sunscreen, a hat, and anything else you may need (medication, extra snacks, etc.) to spend an amazing 6 to 8 hours hiking toward Trollsjön Lake through the Kärkevagge Valley!
