Nestled on the Ligurian Riviera, Portofino is a captivating destination for kayaking and canoeing, where the interplay of sea and land creates a setting of rare beauty. The village’s pastel façades, framed by lush hills and the deep blue of the Mediterranean, invite exploration from the water’s edge. Paddling here reveals a coastline sculpted by time, with hidden grottos, rocky promontories, and the protected waters of the Portofino Marine Park. The atmosphere is both vibrant and serene, shaped by the gentle rhythm of fishing boats, the distant chime of church bells, and the subtle fragrance of pine and salt carried on the breeze. For those seeking a blend of adventure and immersion in nature, kayaking or canoeing in Portofino offers a unique perspective on one of Italy’s most iconic coastal landscapes.

Setting out from the harbour, paddlers glide over translucent waters that shift in colour from emerald to cobalt, tracing the contours of the promontory towards secluded bays like Paraggi and San Fruttuoso. The experience is defined by contrasts: the quiet intimacy of narrow inlets, where sunlight dances on limestone cliffs, and the invigorating challenge of open stretches exposed to the elements. Routes typically range from two to four hours, allowing time to pause in tranquil coves, swim beneath overhanging pines, or simply absorb the play of light and shadow on the water. The terrain is varied, with gentle currents near the shore and occasional swells further out, offering both moments of calm and bursts of energy. The sounds of waves against rock and the call of seabirds heighten the sense of connection to this unique marine environment.

Local guides and instructors in Portofino are deeply familiar with the region’s waters and traditions, ensuring each outing is both safe and enriching. All essential equipment, including sea kayaks or canoes, paddles, buoyancy aids, and dry bags, is provided and maintained to high standards. Giacomo took us on a boat tour fro Recco to Sanst Margherita. We made a stop in San Fruttuoso to snorkle, tourist the village and have cocktails and a snack at the beach. Then we went south to Santa Margherita and Portofino where we went into town for lunch and walked to Chiesa di San Georgio with amazing views of the port. We took the boat to Spiaggia dell Olivetta for more snorkling. 8 hrs of bliss.

Our guide was very nice and good. Kayaking was nice and he explained everything very well. Kayaking is quite intensive, snorkeling was "ok" where only masks where provided and no fins or breathing "tubes"

The activity was great, we wanted to do the kayaking tour but the weather didn't permit it so they suggested we did surfing instead. It was a great idea and went really well.

Da wir das erste Mal mit dem Kajak unterwegs waren, war es sehr anstrengend. Trotzdem hat es sehr viel Spass gemacht und wir würden es jederzeit wieder buchen.
