Practical information
On this excursion, you'll depart from Rovaniemi and embark on a snowmobiling session in the wilderness.
Course of events
- Pick-up from your accommodation or meet at the starting point in Rovaniemi
- Receive equipment and Arctic gear
- Snowmobile driving lesson
- The snowmobile adventure begins!
- Snowmobile for approximately 30 minutes
- Return to starting point and transfer back to Rovaniemi
Activity requirements
Snowmobile drivers must hold a full, valid driver's licence (original or electronic copy).
Children under 12 years old will be seated in a sled pulled by the guide's snowmobile.
If the child is taller than 150 cm (4'9"), they can be seated on the snowmobile paying the adult's price.
Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by adults paying the full price.
Special terms
The pricing works as follows:
1 Adult / Twin Driving: two adults share the snowmobile, one driver and one passenger. The price is per person. If you book for 1 participant, you will be paired up with a participant from another group on the day.
1 Adult / Solo Driving: one adult drives alone on the snowmobile, no passengers.
Child: a seat in the sled pulled by the guide's snowmobile.
Pick-up/drop-off to your accommodation within a 15 km driving distance from Rovaniemi city centre is included. Please contact your instructor to arrange. Please be ready and wait in your hotel lobby 10 minutes prior to your scheduled pickup time.
Departure time may vary depending on the seasons and availability, please kindly check the email you receive for the exact pick-up time and pick-up location.
At least 2 people are required for this tour to take place on weekdays and Saturdays, and at least 4 people are required on Sundays and public holidays. If the anticipated number is not reached, you will be offered a refund or the chance to reschedule.

This tour takes place from Rovaniemi, the capital city of Lapland, located in northern Finland. The area is situated just beside the Arctic Circle, featuring snowy forests, frozen lakes and picturesque terrains during the winter. This snowmobile excursion allows you to reach inaccessible parts of the Taiga Forest surrounding the region.
You will start by meeting your guide in Rovaniemi (pickup is available within a 15km driving distance). This tour is specially designed for beginners who have no experience with driving a snowmobile. A safety briefing and snowmobile driving lesson will be given. Snowmobiles will be shared between 2 (twin riding), with 1 driver and 1 passenger, and the opportunity to swap halfway. Children will be pulled in a sled by the guide's snowmobile. Once you are dressed in your Arctic gear, you will set off into the snowy terrain.
You will be taken to a beautiful location around the Arctic Circle area, where you will be able to enjoy your first comfortable and effortless ride by snowmobile. Following a circuit, take in the stunning Arctic forest scenery covered in snow. There will be plenty of opportunities to capture photos of the natural beauty, so don't forget your camera! This short but adventurous snowmobile ride will ensure you learn all of the basics and explore the winter wilderness. At the end of the tour, you will return to the starting point in Rovaniemi.

Really good when we got going. Lots of people on the same activity so waiting for each other then time on the snowmobiles and different groups for each ability/confidence level. Only issue was children go on a big seated sledge behind the instructor not their parent which was not clear. They said they had fun but as a parent it was hard to go in a faster group and leave the children with strangers.... not quite the best activity for families with little ones as it's mainly about the children who get towed by staff so you're nto relaxed/together. Good fun though. Nice staff.
