Here, the landscape unfolds in a tapestry of golden beaches, emerald forests, and the shimmering expanse of the Indian Ocean, all framed by the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma mountains. The bay’s gentle curve, with Robberg Peninsula standing sentinel to the south, offers a sense of openness and possibility. Whether you are drawn by the call of seabirds, the scent of salt on the breeze, or the play of sunlight on turquoise waters, Plettenberg Bay inspires a spirit of adventure and connection with nature that is perfectly suited to the art of SUP.

Practising Stand Up Paddleboarding in Plettenberg Bay is a journey through contrasting environments and sensations. Glide across the calm, glassy surface of the Keurbooms River, where the only sounds are your paddle dipping and the distant call of fish eagles, or venture into the bay itself for a taste of the ocean’s gentle swell. Typical outings range from tranquil explorations of the river’s winding estuary, shaded by indigenous trees, to more invigorating sessions along the open coastline, where the water’s texture shifts with the tides and the wind. Routes can last from an hour to half a day, offering both meditative solitude and moments of exhilaration as you navigate changing currents and spot dolphins or seals in the distance. The interplay of light and water, from the cool morning mist to the warm glow of late afternoon, adds a sensory richness to every paddle.

BEAUTIFUL, FREEING, WONDERFUL, FUN, INSPIRING TO SEE HUMP BACK DOLPHINS! ALSO A GOOD WORKOUT ON THE UPPER BODY.
Just awesome and I felt all the time recognized and safe. Afterwards I do not understand myself why I had such big fear to jump. Now I’m really one huge step further.
