This iconic canyon, carved by the Tarn River through the heart of the Lozère region, is a sanctuary for outdoor enthusiasts and seekers of extraordinary experiences. Towering limestone cliffs rise above emerald waters, their pale surfaces glowing in the southern French sunlight. The air carries the scent of wild thyme and the distant murmur of the river, creating an atmosphere that is both invigorating and serene. With the medieval village of Sainte-Enimie nearby and the vast Cévennes National Park on the horizon, the Gorges du Tarn is not only a destination for adventure but a place where nature’s grandeur inspires every leap.

The experience of bungee jumping here is as much about immersion in the landscape as it is about the rush of freefall. Participants typically launch from one of the region’s impressive bridges, such as the Pont de la Malène, which arches high above the turquoise ribbon of the Tarn. After a detailed briefing, you step to the edge, feeling the rough texture of ancient stone underfoot and the cool breeze rising from the gorge below. The moment of the jump is a pure surge of adrenaline, a few seconds of weightlessness as the world blurs into a rush of colour and sound. The echo of your own exhilaration bounces off the canyon walls, followed by a gentle rebound and the quiet satisfaction of accomplishment. The contrast between the peaceful river valley and the intensity of the jump heightens every sensation, making each descent unforgettable.

So good you want to do it again, only the climb is heavy

It is a great way you are some otherwise unreachable parts of the Gorges. It's challenging if you take the highest jumps, but very accessible as you don't have to do everything.

The activity itself was great - more straining than other canyoning experiences we'd had before, and requiring a lot more swimming than we had expected, but not too much, either. Too bad nobody was at hand to take some pictures, though... :-(
