To experience quad biking or buggy tours along the Marsouins River in Saint-Benoit is to discover one of Réunion Island’s most vibrant outdoor playgrounds. Nestled on the lush eastern coast, Saint-Benoit is a gateway to wild landscapes shaped by volcanic history and tropical climate. The Marsouins River, winding through dense forests and fertile valleys, offers a dynamic backdrop where the air is tinged with the scent of wet earth and the distant sound of rushing water. Here, adventure blends with the region’s natural beauty, inviting travellers to explore off-the-beaten-path trails that reveal the island’s untamed spirit. The light shifts through the canopy, dappling the ground with gold, while the nearby peaks of the Piton des Neiges and the forests of Bébour-Bélouve frame the horizon, creating a setting that is both invigorating and serene.

Riding a quad or buggy in this part of Réunion is an immersive journey through contrasting environments. Typical routes follow the Marsouins River’s meandering course, crossing muddy tracks, rocky outcrops, and shaded woodland paths. The terrain is varied, with sections that challenge your driving skills and others that allow you to soak in the tranquil scenery. Tours often last between one and three hours, offering ample time to experience the thrill of acceleration, the vibration of the engine beneath you, and the cool spray of river crossings. The sensation of navigating winding trails, with the calls of tropical birds overhead and the scent of wild ginger in the air, is both exhilarating and grounding. Along the way, panoramic viewpoints open onto the river valley, revealing a mosaic of green fields, basalt cliffs, and the distant shimmer of the Indian Ocean.

We are a family with two teenagers and some of us have vertigo so we were a bit reluctant but it was a very fun activity for all ages. When jumps are too high you can always choose a lower option. The guide (Noelle) was very good friendly and knowledgeable. There was a good local aperitieve after a very fun morning.
