When to visit Jondal?

The best time to visit Jondal depends on the activities you wish to experience. Summer, from June to September, is ideal for sea kayaking on the Hardangerfjord, glacier kayaking, and e-bike tours, as the days are long and the weather is generally mild. This period also offers optimal conditions for blue ice hikes and husky camp visits, with accessible trails and vibrant landscapes.

Winter and early spring, typically from December to April, are perfect for dog sledding adventures on the Folgefonna Glacier. During these months, the glacier is blanketed in snow, creating a magical setting for self-drive dog sledding tours and overnight husky camping. Always check with local guides for up-to-date information on weather and trail conditions, as these can vary.

Very enthusiastic guides! That really enjoyed to share their hobby and experience with you. In comparison to previous gletsjer hikes, this was more of a long snow walk/hike instead of ice climbing. However, in the end we also did some blue ice climbing and we definitely enjoyed the views during the hike!!
