Nestled deep within Swedish Lapland, Abisko is a gateway to some of Scandinavia’s most captivating natural spectacles. Sightseeing tours in Abisko reveal a landscape where Arctic wilderness meets serene lakeshores and rugged mountains, all under a sky that shifts from the ethereal glow of the Midnight Sun to the vivid dance of the Northern Lights. The village sits on the edge of Abisko National Park, a protected area renowned for its untouched beauty and rich biodiversity. From the tranquil waters of Lake Torneträsk to the dramatic silhouette of Mount Nuolja, every viewpoint offers a new perspective on the region’s wild character. The crisp, clean air carries the scent of pine and birch, while the silence is broken only by the distant call of birds or the gentle rush of the Abiskojåkka River. Here, the interplay of light and landscape creates a setting that feels both remote and welcoming, making Abisko an ideal destination for immersive sightseeing experiences.

Exploring Abisko on a sightseeing tour is a journey through contrasts and sensations. Guided excursions often begin in the heart of the village, winding through birch forests, across open tundra, or along the shores of Lake Torneträsk, Sweden’s sixth largest lake. Some tours ascend Mount Nuolja by chairlift, offering panoramic views over the valley and the distant peaks of the Scandinavian Mountains. Others follow the famed Kungsleden trail, where the crunch of gravel underfoot and the cool breeze on your face heighten the sense of adventure. In winter, the landscape transforms into a silent, snow-covered expanse, and tours may include minibus safaris to prime aurora viewing spots or gentle walks on packed trails. Each route is carefully chosen to showcase Abisko’s unique geography, from deep gorges to open fells, and to provide moments of quiet reflection as well as awe-inspiring vistas. Whether you are gazing at the pastel colours of a summer night or the shimmering green of the aurora, the experience is both grounding and exhilarating.

Local guides in Abisko are passionate ambassadors for the region, combining expert knowledge with a genuine love for the outdoors. Abisko’s sightseeing tours are accessible to a wide range of participants, from families with children to solo travellers and active seniors. A great activity. The location is super if you're staying in or near Abisko to do local dogsledding, and the times are great if you take the morning tour so you've still got loads of time in the day for other things.

Everyone got to climb 2 or 3 times on two routes to try out ice climbing. Honestly this was enough work for our muscles! The ice was located next to a busy street.

A really magical experience sledding through the stunning snowy landscape with very friendly, and happy dogs. The dogs were well cared for, and loved being cuddled in between their shifts. They also couldn’t wait to run! Our group loved every second of it.
