Course of events
Please allow 7 hours in total for this experience, including a 5-hour hike with a picnic break.
- Meet early in the Stubai Valley and join your mountain guide for a welcome, day briefing, equipment check, and gear distribution (15–30 minutes).
- Take the cable car up to the Stubai Glacier and enjoy quick, comfortable access to the alpine terrain (20–30 minutes).
- Prepare for high-mountain conditions by fitting your equipment (crampons, harness, helmet) and listening to safety instructions for glacier travel (10–15 minutes).
- Begin the ascent over rock and scree and progress towards the Zuckerhütl across sometimes steep alpine terrain, with short breaks to rest and acclimatise (1.5–2 hours).
- Rope up as a group and cross the glacier using crampons, moving safely across the ice under your guide’s supervision (1.5–2.5 hours).
- Reach the Zuckerhütl summit (3,507 m) and take time to enjoy the panorama after the final ascent (30–45 minutes).
- Descend via the glacier and scree, following your guide on a controlled and steady return (2.5–3.5 hours).
- Return by cable car to the valley and finish the activity before departing (20–30 minutes).
