Arrive at the Katabatik – Aventure dans Charlevoix base in Baie-Saint-Paul 30 minutes before your departure time (free parking available on site)
Check in and get ready (10 minutes): complete and hand in your risk acceptance form. Buy snacks and drinks on site if needed. Collect your life jacket and dry bag (plus water shoes and/or wetsuit if pre-booked)
Attend the briefing (5 minutes): receive a short introduction to the route and basic paddling techniques, along with all the key information you'll need to enjoy the river safely and independently. More detailed safety and technique instructions will be given at the water's edge
Board the shuttle to the put-in point (10 minutes): hop aboard the minibus to the starting point of your adventure
Collect the remainder of your equipment and receive your safety instructions (15 minutes)
Descend the Rivière du Gouffre independently — approximately 8 km (1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours): launch onto the water and get to grips with your craft, enjoy calm sections ideal for taking in the Charlevoix scenery, and stop freely on the small natural beaches along the riverbank
