Discover scuba diving in Mindelo during two dives of 25 minutes each with your dedicated instructor and reach a depth that can vary between 6 and 12 metres.

Course of events
Please allow 5 hours on site for the entire experience.
- Learn the theory at home thanks to access to a PADI eLearning short theory introduction that will be sent to you via Whatsapp (20 minutes)
- Meet at the dive center at the Hotel Oasis Porto Grande for registration, equipment fitting, and sizing (15 minutes)
- Walk to the nearby marina to board the diving boat (5 minutes)
- Boat cruise to the selected diving spot around the island (25 minutes)
- Comprehensive boat briefing regarding safety guidelines, diving techniques, and water entry/exit procedures (20 minutes)
- First open water discovery dive exploring local marine landscapes with your dedicated instructor (25 minutes)
- Relaxing 1.5-hour surface interval spent on the boat with water, bananas, and traditional cookies provided (90 minutes)
- Short boat navigation to a second distinct diving location (5 minutes)
- Second open water discovery dive with your dedicated instructor to maximize your underwater comfort and explore new marine life (25 minutes)
- Pack up and organize the technical equipment on board to prepare for the return trip (15 minutes)
- Boat journey back to the marina in Mindelo (25 minutes)
- Return to the dive center with up to 30 minutes of free time to shower, change, and use the hotel swimming pool (or more if you order some food or drinks from the hotel)
Objectives
Learn basic diving skills, such as breathing underwater, clearing a mask and a regulator.
Activity requirements
All participants must know how to swim and be in good physical condition to take part in this activity.
Written parental authorisation is required for minors to participate in this activity without an accompanying adult.
For this activity, you must not have any of the following contraindications: respiratory problems (exertional asthma), heart problems, ENT problems, lung problems, diabetes or epilepsy. If you have any doubts, don't hesitate to contact us or ask for medical advice.
All participants must sign an insurance waiver on-site.
Special terms
Participants who wear glasses can bring their own mask adapted to their eyesight. Otherwise, please ask your optician if you wish to wear contact lenses during the activity.
Non-participating passengers are welcome on board for an additional fee of €40 per person, subject to availability. Places are allocated with priority given to diving participants, and attendance is also dependent on suitable sea conditions, including low wind and wave levels.
This activity is not recommended for pregnant people.
This activity is not accessible for people with physical or mental disabilities due to boat logistics and specific underwater safety constraints.
Pets are not permitted to join in this activity.

Open to anyone who can swim and is in good physical condition, this introductory dive in Mindelo offers a unique opportunity to discover the underwater world of Cape Verde in complete safety. With water temperatures ranging between 21°C and 27°C and visibility of between 15 and 30 metres, the island of São Vicente enjoys superb diving conditions and a remarkable diversity of species. Diving at São Vicente means encountering endemic species such as the white-tailed damselfish, nurse sharks, exotic frogfish, and vast shoals of surgeonfish.
Join the certified instructors at Haliotis São Vicente in Mindelo and set off with them to discover a whole new world! After a warm welcome at the dive centre, your instructor will provide you with quality, regularly renewed diving equipment from trusted brands such as Aqualung and Tusa. You'll then board a rigid inflatable boat to reach the day's dive site chosen depending on the weather, where your instructor will run through a thorough briefing on safety guidelines and the diving techniques you'll need to know. When you're ready, it's time to dive!
Always accompanied by your dedicated instructor underwater, you'll experience for the first time the sensation of being able to breathe beneath the surface. Depending on your comfort level, you'll be able to descend to a depth of up to 12 metres to discover what lies hidden below. For approximately 25 minutes, you'll soak up the underwater scenery and the rich marine life it harbours before returning to the boat for a surface interval. You'll then dive again for a second exploration — this time with a little more confidence, and a brand new dive spot near Mindelo to discover.
