Practical information
A 5-hour scuba diving trip in São Vicente for certified scuba divers, featuring 2 distinct guided dives of up to 60 minutes near Mindelo, each at different uncrowded sites.
- Enjoy a small-group experience with a maximum ratio of 8 divers per certified local guide.
- Reach remote dive sites efficiently aboard a fast 16-passenger rigid inflatable boat (RIB).
- Relax during a comfortable 1-hour surface interval on the boat with fresh water, bananas and cookies provided.
Course of events
Please allow 5 hours on site for the entire experience.
- Meet at the dive center located at the Hotel Oasis Porto Grande to present your diving certification, fill out the safety waiver, gear up, and check equipment sizing (15 minutes)
- Walk 5 minutes to the marina where the rigid inflatable boat is docked and assemble your scuba equipment next to the vessel (5 minutes)
- Attend a comprehensive safety briefing regarding boat rules, entry procedures, and start the 25 to 30-minute boat ride to the first dive site
- Arrive at the first dive spot for a detailed briefing about the underwater topography and marine life, followed by final gear adjustments (30 minutes)
- First ocean dive exploring the local reefs and volcanic formations for a maximum duration of 1 hour with your guide in the water with you
- Enjoy a 1-hour surface interval on board the boat with complimentary fresh water, bananas, and cookies while the crew switches the tanks for your second dive (60 minutes)
- Move to a second distinct diving location around the island (5 minutes)
- Second ocean dive to discover a new underwater habitat and spot local marine species for a maximum duration of 1 hour with your guide in the water with you
- Disassemble your technical scuba gear and secure all equipment on the boat for the return trip (15 minutes)
- Boat journey back to the marina and short walk back to the diving facilities (30 minutes)
- Return to the dive center where you can take a warm shower and enjoy free access to the hotel swimming pool (30 minutes or more if you order some food or drinks from the hotel)
Activity requirements
This activity is reserved for certified divers. You must be able to present a valid certification to carry out the activities. Example of accepted certification: Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, Advanced Adventurer, Scuba Diver, Level 1 Diver, Level 2 Diver…
All participants must know how to swim and be in good physical condition to take part in this activity.
Written parental authorisation is required for minors to participate in this activity without an accompanying adult.
All participants must sign an insurance waiver on-site.
A minimum number of 2 participants is required to run this activity.
Special terms
Participants who wear glasses can bring their own mask adapted to their eyesight. Otherwise, please ask your optician if you wish to wear contact lenses during the activity.
Non-participating passengers are welcome on board for an additional fee of €40 per person, subject to availability. Places are allocated with priority given to diving participants, and attendance is also dependent on suitable sea conditions, including low wind and wave levels.
This activity is not recommended for pregnant people.
This activity is not accessible for people with physical or mental disabilities due to boat logistics and specific underwater safety constraints.
Pets are not permitted to join in this activity.

The main town on the island of São Vicente in Cape Verde, Mindelo enjoys a prime coastal location and is set around a near-perfect semi-circular bay, the remnant of an ancient partially submerged caldera. Renowned for scuba diving in São Vicente, Mindelo is the ideal departure point for exploring spectacular dive sites where water temperatures range from 21°C to 27°C and visibility typically varies between 15 and 30 metres. Diving in Mindelo offers the opportunity to encounter local endemic species such as the white-tailed damselfish, nurse sharks, exotic frogfish and vast schools of surgeonfish.
If you are a certified diver visiting São Vicente, this guided diving experience in Mindelo is an activity you will not want to miss. Organised by a team of qualified and experienced diving professionals, the excursion takes you by boat to two dive sites selected by your guide according to your certification level, preferences and the day’s weather conditions.
