Experience the amazing natural spectacle of the Northern Lights on a sleigh ride from Rovaniemi. Welcoming adventurers from ages 3 and up on this family-friendly tour!
Rovaniemi is a popular destination in Lapland, especially during the winter months. It is located in northern Finland, close to the Arctic Circle, meaning it experiences Arctic conditions. The region is known for its stunning scenery including snowy forests, frozen lakes and beautiful mountain landscapes. It is also one of the best places in the world for witnessing the Northern Lights!
The tour sets off from the meeting point in Rovaniemi (pickup is available within a 15km driving distance). You will meet your friendly and experienced guide, who will take you through a safety briefing and give out the Arctic gear and equipment. Then, the adventure begins!
You will take a seat on the comfortable sleigh pulled by a snowmobile. Your guide will control the snowmobile and take you on a journey through the snowy and unforgettable landscape, all the way to a magic frozen lake, far away from the residential areas and light pollution. After arriving, the guide will share stories and tales about the Northern Lights, and Arctic life in general. As you wait for the Northern Lights to appear, you will warm up with hot blueberry juice and gingerbread snacks around a roaring campfire. The thrill of witnessing the Aurora Borealis is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many. The Northern Lights dancing up above is such a powerful and unique natural phenomenon. After admiring the lights, you will return to Rovaniemi.

Pick-up/drop-off to your hotel/accommodation within a 15 km driving distance from Rovaniemi city centre is included. Please contact your instructor to arrange.
Departure time may vary depending on the seasons and availability, please kindly check the email you receive for the exact pick-up time and pick-up location.
Course of events
- Pick-up from your accommodation or meet at the starting point in Rovaniemi
- Safety briefing and receive equipment
- The adventure begins!
- Sit in a sleigh pulled by a snowmobile
- Travel to the viewpoint at a lakeside
- Admire the Northern Lights
- Enjoy hot drinks and snacks around a campfire
- Return to starting point and transfer back to Rovaniemi
Activity requirements
Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by adults paying the full price.

Please be advised that as the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, their presence can never be guaranteed.
At least 2 people are required for this tour to take place on weekdays and Saturdays.
At least 4 people are required for this tour to take place on Sundays and public holidays.
If the anticipated number is not reached, you will be offered a refund or the chance to reschedule.
Please be ready and wait in your hotel lobby 10 minutes prior to your scheduled pickup time.
