Learn how to go ice fishing on this excursion into the backcountry of Rovaniemi aboard an electric snowmobile. Welcoming adventurers from ages 4 and up on this family-friendly trip!
Rovaniemi is the capital city of Lapland, located in the north of Finland. This region is popular for outdoor and nature enthusiasts, due to its stunning natural landscapes. This excursion combines two authentic Finnish activities which will allow you to experience the remote wilderness of Rovaniemi - ice fishing and snowmobiling!
The trip begins with pick-up from your accommodation in Rovaniemi (please specify when booking) or you can meet the guide directly at the starting point. The experienced guide will take you through a safety briefing and driving lesson for the state-of-the-art electric snowmobiles. Each snowmobile will be shared between two, with one driver and one passenger and the chance to switch during the tour. Children can sit in a sled pulled by the guide's snowmobile. This all-inclusive experience welcomes everyone!
After you have received your equipment, the adventure begins! You will enjoy a 1.5-hour ride on the electric snowmobile, gliding through the untouched snow and taking in the raw beauty of the area. The guide will lead to the frozen lake Lehtojärvi for the fishing activity!
Once you have arrived, your guide will find the perfect spot to drill a hole in the ice. All equipment is provided by the guide, including your rod, bait, and safety equipment for the ice. Sit in the sun as you wait for a catch. This is a truly authentic Finnish experience, enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
After trying your hand at fishing, you will get back on the eSled and head to a cosy Kota (wooden hut) for some snacks. Enjoy some nice grilled sausages and flatbread by a roaring fire. You will end the meal with some nice sweet Finnish pastries. At the end of the activity, you will head back to the base and return to your pick-up point in Rovaniemi.

Activity requirements
Snowmobile drivers must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driver's license (category B). Please bring the physical copy with you on the day of the activity.
For safety reasons, children will be pulled in a sled driven by the guide's snowmobile.
Passengers must be at least 140cm / 4'9" to sit on the snowmobile. Children over the height restriction are allowed to sit on the snowmobile as a passenger when paying the adult price.
