Escape the hustle of a busy town and spend a day just relaxing in Finnish nature with traditional activities like ice fishing, sauna, and ice swimming.
Rovaniemi is a city located in Finnish Lapland, close to the Arctic Circle. Due to its picturesque landscapes and snowy winter conditions, the region is a haven for outdoor activities. This excursion gives you a taste of three traditional Finnish activities.
The day begins by meeting your experienced guide at the starting point in Rovaniemi (pickup is available within a 15km driving distance). The guide will go through the itinerary for the day and give out your Arctic gear and equipment. Once you are dressed and ready to go, the adventure begins!
You will travel to a frozen lake in the middle of the Arctic forest, where you will start your day with ice fishing. The guide will show you how to drill a hole and set up your ice fishing equipment. This spot is one of the best places for catching fish, drop your line into the ice hole, sit back, and try your luck! If you do manage to catch a fish, the guide will grill it on the open fire. You will enjoy a traditional BBQ campfire meal of Lappish bread, salmon, marshmallows and hot blueberry juice (vegetarian/vegan alternative upon request).
After a fulfilling lunch, you will get ready for the next authentic Finnish experience - a traditional lakeside sauna. The wooden sauna allows you to relieve the stress of every day and warm up with gentle steam. For the most unique experience of Lapland, dare to take a dip in an ice hole just outside the sauna to cool you down. Once you have enjoyed the relaxing sauna in the peaceful forest, you will head back to Rovaniemi.

Course of events
- Pick-up from your accommodation or meet at the starting point in Rovaniemi
- Travel to a lake in the middle of the forest
- The ice fishing adventure begins!
- Enjoy a traditional campfire BBQ meal and hot drinks
- Warm up in the sauna and swim in the icy lake (approximately 1 hour)
- Return to starting point and transfer back to Rovaniemi
Special terms
Swimsuit rental is available on the day at €15 per person.
At least 4 people are required for this activity to take place.

Please be ready and wait in your hotel lobby 10 minutes prior to your scheduled pickup time.
