Experience the magical Northern Lights in the peaceful Lappish forest with a heated traditional sauna from Rovaniemi. Welcoming adventurers of all ages on this family-friendly excursion!
Rovaniemi is the capital city of Lapland, located in the north of Finland. Due to its position close to the Arctic Circle, the region features snowy taiga forests, beautiful landscapes and frozen lakes during the winter. It is also one of the best places in the world to witness the awe-inspiring Aurora Borealis!
To begin, you will meet your experienced guide at the starting point in Rovaniemi (pickup is available within a 15km driving distance). From there, you will travel to the middle of the peaceful Lappish forest. A traditional Finnish sauna is heated in advance for you to relax and enjoy the gentle steam wrapping around your body. The guide will give you some instructions on how to utilise the sauna in Finnish style. The sauna will help to loosen up your body and release all of your strains. The Finnish way to cool down is by dipping into the icy cold water of the lake or rolling in the sparkling powdery snow.
After heating up in the sauna, the guide will take you to the middle of the frozen lake to hunt for the Northern Lights. Gaze upon the bright clear sky full of stars and witness the amazing dance of colours. You will sit around an open fire to enjoy hot blueberry juice. The knowledgeable guide will share stories about life in the Arctic wilderness and the history of this natural phenomenon. After enjoying the stillness of the location, you will return to the starting point in Rovaniemi.

Departure time may vary depending on the seasons and availability, please kindly check the email you receive for the exact pick-up time and pick-up location.
Course of events
- Pick-up from your accommodation or meet at the starting point in Rovaniemi
- Travel to the middle of the forest
- Heat up in the sauna and cool down in the lake (approximately 1 hour)
- Travel to the middle of the lake
- Admire the Northern Lights
- Enjoy hot drinks around a campfire
- Return to starting point and transfer back to Rovaniemi
Activity requirements
Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by adults paying the full price.

Please be advised that as the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, their presence can never be gauranteed.
Swimsuit rental is available on the day at €15 per person.
At least 2 people are required for this tour to take place on weekdays and Saturdays.
At least 4 people are required for this tour to take place on Sundays and public holidays.
If the anticipated number is not reached, you will be offered a refund or the chance to reschedule.
Please be ready and wait in your hotel lobby 10 minutes prior to your scheduled pickup time.
