About the activity
At the far end of Lake Annecy, nestled in the hills above Faverges near the hamlet of Les Combes, the Frontenex Canyon offers a short, unspoilt and particularly enjoyable limestone gorge. The stream flows through a shaded gorge featuring a succession of waterfalls carved out by the current and beautiful pools of clear water. This little-visited site is an excellent alternative to the very popular routes in the Annecy area, such as the Angon Canyon, allowing families to enjoy the experience in complete tranquillity. An introductory canyoning session at the Frontenex Canyon near Annecy guarantees a gradual and safe introduction to white-water sports for younger participants.
The adventure begins right by the stream after everyone has been fully kitted out and the safety instructions have been gone over. From the very first few metres, the course reveals just how much fun it is, with slides down natural chutes carved out of the rock. At the top of the first large waterfall, the instructor sets up a rope to slow the descent, offering a gentle introduction to abseiling. The children then make their way through a series of small waterfalls and take a dip in refreshing pools. The pace remains smooth and well-paced to prevent participants from getting too cold, ensuring a total immersion in the heart of the Savoyard countryside.
This activity is aimed at children who can swim and feel comfortable in the water. All the necessary safety equipment is provided, including a neoprene wetsuit, neoprene socks, a helmet and a properly fitted harness. To ensure personalised supervision and maximum safety, group sizes are deliberately kept small, with each group always supervised by a qualified instructor.
Available during the summer months of July and August, this outing – combining abseiling and gentle rappelling – promises some unforgettable family moments. Book your introductory canyoning session at the Frontenex Gorge near Annecy now and introduce your children to the joys of white water!
